Preliminary repair works due to commence
The revamp of the Citadel Leisure Centre in Ayr is set to commence in the coming months as South Ayrshire Council’s appointed principal contractor Robertson Construction Central West will start roofing works.
This is the first step in plans to overhaul the town’s popular sport and leisure centre. A major programme of internal and external improvement works will follow and take place over the next 18 months.
To make it easier for everyone to keep up to date with progress on the refurbishment, we’ve launched this microsite. This is where you’ll be able to find out what work is underway and view plans and images of what you can expect to see when the works are complete.
South Ayrshire Council’s Director of Communities and Transformation, Jane Bradley, said: “The Citadel is an extremely popular facility, with around 300,000 people coming through its doors each year. So, it’s fantastic to see the upgrade works get underway.
“The extensive refurbishment programme will modernise the leisure centre to ensure we can meet the needs of today’s customers and service users.
“Our new dedicated microsite means that everyone can easily keep up to date as the work progresses.”

We will engage closely with the local community throughout the project to deliver a transformation that everyone can be proud of. We look forward to works commencing soon.”
